Welcome to Argument Cottage, named after our family, Guisborough’s only 4 star, self-catering establishment. Enjoy your stay in the historic capital of ancient Cleveland. Located on Northgate, two minutes from the town centre and XII Century Priory ruins, the property is a former miner’s cottage, completely refurbished whilst at the same time retaining original features. Nominated by the Yorkshire Tourist Board White Rose Awards for Sustainable Tourism and silver award by the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Sleeping up to 4 from £250- £495 per week, £50-£95 per night.
We endeavour to provide the highest quality affordable accommodation to meet and, indeed, exceed the demands of the most discerning traveller or tourist to our beautiful part of the country. There are FREE visitor parking permits in zone P and for those who love the great outdoors- secure cycle and walkers storage space available on site. Take a short journey to Guisborough Forest to enjoy the scenery and landscape all around you!
Sleeping four, Argument Cottage is an ideal base for exploring not only Cleveland’s ancient capital Guisborough but also the surrounding areas, including the North York Moors National Park, Captain Cook Country, Heartbeat Country (Goathland – 26 miles), the Cleveland Way Walk, Whitby (22 miles), many other coastal villages such as Robin Hood's Bay - and much more. The nearest beach is at Saltburn, only 5 miles away.

Environmental Statement
Within our environmental policy we recycle all of our guests waste in line with the local authority scheme and have details available in the cottage to assist with this. We use low energy lightbulbs in all the light fittings that accommodate them and have low energy rating appliances- new fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. We have secure storage, information and facilities for cyclists and walkers on site and provide an excellent exclusive welcome basket with locally produced items so that guests have breakfast provided. We encourage guests to reduce, reuse and recycle where possible and do so ourselves. There is a Green File on site with lots of useful information about walking, cycling and days out at the many beautiful country and coastal settings. We provide an 8 day itinerary for days out without the car, things such as taking the moors bus, trips to local museums, walks and cycle rides. We use recycled paper, do e-marketing and booking wherever possible. We are proud to be Green!
