Price of Peace

Price of Peace nestles peacefully in the valley on the banks of the river Torridge just outside the market town of Hatherleigh. Built in 1930 by Lord Marchamley as a country retreat, it retains much of its original character with solid pine beamed ceilings, fitted chests and paneling. Built on the theme of a boat, this single floor dwelling complete with its ships bell is a unique building with a wonderful atmosphere offering first class accommodation in a tranquil setting. With its abundance of wildlife of over 50 different species of birds and animals, many calling at the feeders at breakfast time, make it a dream place to stay. Watch the acrobatic squirrel, the fox amble across the drive or the deer across the valley, and if you are very patient then you may spot the otter swimming up the river and the kingfisher fly by. Price of Peace is situated off the A386 only a mile from the market town of Hatherleigh in the heart of Devon, ideal for touring both North and South Devon and eastern Cornwall. The Tarka and Ruby trail pass nearby for cyclists and walkers and there are many guided walks on Dartmoor. We have three beautifully appointed bedrooms, two doubles and one twin room with all the comforts you would expect including central heating, TV, a view of the grounds, your own refreshments and ensuite facilities.
