The Old Post House Hotel was used as a post office up until 1928, since then it has been Clitheroe's most prestigious and distinctive hotel. Clitheroe is a historic Lancashire market town in the delightful Ribble Valley. The nearest airport is at Blackpool some 27 miles.
Whether you enjoy the occasional cycle ride or you are a serious enthusiast, we can offer excellent facilities including cycle hire, packed lunches, secure bicycle storage, maps and free cycle routes for the Ribble Valley. There are also many countryside walks either long or short to suit all ages and abilities, all incorporating beautiful scenery.
Our restaurant serves traditional homemade food and an excellent Lancashire breakfast. We offer a bed and breakfast package at a very reasonable price, making us the perfect base for your visit to the Ribble Valley. We have 11 rooms to offer including an annex, all with en-suite facilities, also free WiFi internet access. There is ramp access at the rear of the hotel, where our private car park is also available for residents and diners.
The hotel is in the centre of Clitheroe and just seconds away from the bus and train interchange, also within a five minute walk is Clitheroe castle and the museum. The area has fantastic sporting facilities, including a number of golf courses.
Whatever your reason for staying, you will find a warm welcome awaits you at The Old Post House. Please note check in time is from 2pm till 10pm and check out is by 10am.
Environmental Statement
To conserve the environment we encouage guests to turn off the lights and television when you leave the room and turn off the bathroom light after use.
If you are staying with us for a while consider using your towels more than once, we only launder towels placed in the bath.
Each of our bed rooms is thermostatically controlled, just lowering the temperature 1 degree does make a difference.
If you like the windows open for fresh air that’s great but please don’t open your window wide and then turn the heating up, open it only slightly instead.
If you have anything with you that can be recycled please leave in your room and we will collect it for you.
With our town's excellent public transport interchange close by, why not consider coming to us by bus or train. Or even take advantage while you are here and leave the car at the hotel for the day.
We even offer cycle hire if you wish to explore the beautiful towns and villages close by!
