Northumberland is a beautiful place with some of the most spectacular countryside views in the country. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied throughout your holiday and stunning scenery just on your doorstep. Birdwatchers and naturalists will find the accommodation ideal as it is a great place for unspoiled country and spotting wildlife. For the keen hill walker there is mile upon mile of well marked footpaths and the Cheviot Hills contain some of the most challenging routes in the UK for mountain biking. Flowing right past the cottages is the famous River Coquet which offers great opportunities for the game fisherman and is a main feature of the scenic area.
If you want to escape the country for a day and see some famous landmarks, there are numerous fascinating places to visit that appeal to all ages and are seeped in history. Cragside is a short distance away and is a key feature as the first Victorian house to be lit by hydro-electricity. The Farne Islands, a nature/wildlife reserve, is an attractive tourist spot along with the historical Holy Islands and the many castles in the area, including the popular Alnwick Castle for its involvement in the first two ‘Harry Potter’ movies. If all the peace and quiet of the countryside gets too much, don’t worry because only a short drive away is thriving market towns such as Alnwick and Morpeth and there are plenty of pubs/restaurants located nearby.
Northumberland is a diverse and stunning location, making Low Alwinton Cottages perfect for all seasons. Each cottage is self-catering, has full economy 7 night storage heating, a video/DVD player and its own garden as well as communal areas.
